Chamber Music Series 2009
The innovative and vibrant Clockwise Duo performs at the ZK Mathews Hall, Unisa, on 25 June 2009 at 19:00. Marc Uys (violin) and Jacqueline Kerrod (harp) in Clockwise, a duo that has captured the imagination of South Africans, are joined by Samson Diamond (violin), Jeanne-Louise Moolman (viola), Marian Lewin (cello), and Leon Bosch (double bass) to play the world premiere of Paul Hanmer’s Koalabearhugging Hats; de Falla/Kochanski; Béla Bartók/Szigeti and Debussy.
Trio Hemanay performs on 26 June 2009 at 19:00 at the Musaion, University of Pretoria. The acclaimed Trio Hemanay – Marian Lewin (cello), Helen Vosloo (flute) and Malcolm Nay (piano) — will have you dancing to Piazzolla tangos and charm you with a Mendelssohn trio and a new piece by Neo Muyanga depicting the love affair between Antony and Cleopatra.
JC Jacobs performs his Cello Recital on 29 June 2009 at 19:00 at the Miriam Makeba Auditorium, Unisa. Charismatic prizewinning cellist JC Jacobs, the winner of the 1st Ronnie and Rhona Lubner Solo Competition Prize comes back from America to give a recital of Brahms Cello Sonata in E minor; Le Grand Tango by Piazzolla, and Elfentanz by David Popper. Mr Jacobs is joined by Dana Cilliers at the piano.
