The Britten-Pears Orchestra

20 February 2010 No Comment

The Britten-Pears Orchestra (BPO) meets four times per year and gives young artists (approx. 18-29 years) the opportunity to attend a diverse and inspiring range of courses focused on professional development. Set in Aldeburgh Music’s breath-taking surroundings on the East coast of England, it combines fantastic resources and outstanding tutors from leading international orchestras. It has also helped many artists to bridge the gap between conservatoire and professional life and launched numerous successful careers.

SA NYO members wishing to be considered for the BPO are welcome to do their SA NYO and their BPO recordings with the traveling recorded auditions in April 2010. Selected applicants will be asked to submit orchestral extracts and successful candidates will be awarded full bursaries which cover flights, meals, accommodation and course fees. In order to be considered for this fantastic opportunity please email auditions@sanyo.org.za with “BPO” in the subject heading and we will send you more information.

‘The BPO is an amazing opportunity to work with musicians from all over the world in a unique and refreshing environment…it is an opportunity young musicians should not miss out on.’

(BPO alumnus 2009)
