Dineo Matsepe, a young violinist from Soweto, playing for an audience of 3000 at the Sasol Leadership Forum in April.

Dineo Matsepe started as a member of the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, and now is a member of the Johannesburg Philharmonic Academy Orchestra. She has been asked to audition for the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra this year. She was one of five of our musicians to go to Switzerland for five weeks of lessons at the Konservatorium Bern in August. They also played in a modern opera production and got to experience Swiss life and culture. A big thank you to the
Konservatorium Bern and the European Federation of National Youth Orchestras for helping us make this dream a reality.

"Thank you so much for giving young musicians the greatest opportunity to come together and create masterful performances, and for the chance to broaden our musical horizons."
Dineo Matsepe, June 2011

Let a Child Play!

Every year hundreds of young musicians from across the country audition for our National Youth Orchestra courses. Some cannot afford travel costs or course fees. Some need music lessons and instruments, a new set of strings or a bowtie. Are you able to help us realise their musical dreams? Please call us on 0832722117 or email us on info@sanyo.org.za if you are able to help.

The National Youth Orchestra has partnered with the Play It Again Foundation since 2009 to give young musicians access to instruments and musical tuition. If you have an instrument you no longer play perhaps it can be put to good use by this organisation.
