Mission

The Foundation supports the training and development of South Africa’s young musicians through national courses, national and international tours and workshops, and networks nationally to assist all youth orchestra programmes to function optimally.

Vision

The Foundation is the leader of the youth orchestral movement in the country, inspiring musicians with a commitment to pursue the highest standards of musical performance.

Objectives
To provide professional leadership and inspiration to talented young South African musicians through national and international programmes and performances of the highest standards, enabling them to expand and extend their music education training and experience.

To empower young South Africans with musical knowledge and imagination, and instill in them a love of music and a dedication to the highest standards of performance.

To attain internationally comparable standards, using the international language of music.

To create equality of opportunity where access, redress, selection and interaction will strengthen the fabric of the organisation and, in turn, of South African society.

To provide individual musicians, regardless of  geographical or financial barriers, with a musical home that teaches structure, discipline, knowledge, tolerance, achievement and teamwork.

To provide exciting performance opportunities and to inspire audience development.

To promote increased awareness and appreciation of South African music by encouraging young composers and instrumentalists and the performance of South African music.

To create opportunities for young musicians from all backgrounds to interact with music professionals, both nationally and internationally, and to assist in finding pathways to professional careers.
