Sasol National Youth Orchestra Course 2009
The SA NYO Foundation’s annual Sasol National Youth Orchestra Course and the annual concerts which follow the course are the most prestigious musical events in youth classical music in South Africa. In 2009, the course will be held at the University of Pretoria.
200 young musicians aged between 13 and 25 were selected for the course, based on a rigorous and objective audition process. Selection is done purely on merit. Due to the SA NYO Foundation’s support of development initiatives in classical music education throughout South Africa, a third of the young people that attended the annual July Sasol National Youth Orchestra Course are historically disadvantaged South Africans.
All four orchestras delighted Gauteng audiences with their concerts on 2 and 3 July 2009.
Applications for the Sasol National Youth Orchestra Course are will be made available from mid February 2010 – email auditions2010@sanyo.org.za to make sure you receive yours!
