An easy way to make a huge difference to a young musician’s life

Support a young musician who could not afford to go to course otherwise by donating R50 each month  – this will help them to get on a bus and get to Nationals! YAY!

SMS “Transport” to 37261 and follow instructions. To stop, reply “Stop Transport” to 37261.

Perhaps you’re not able to donate R50, but you can manage R20 each month – this will buy a master class for a young musician  and is a valuable contribution towards their career.

SMS “Sanyo” to 37261 and follow instructions. To stop, reply “Stop Sanyo” to 37261.

Let a Child Play!

The South African National Youth Orchestra Foundation is the leader of the youth orchestral movement in the country, inspiring young musicians to pursue the highest standards of musical performance.

We’d love every young South African musician, regardless of financial or geographical barriers, to be able to attend our programme this year. Your sponsorship of a musician will contribute to continued musical excellence and national development.

Please help us to LET A CHILD PLAY!

The National Youth Orchestra was founded in 1964 and formalised in 1979 in the National Youth Orchestra Foundation. In its sparkling history it has hosted annual orchestra courses, concerts, international and national tours and workshops for young musicians, and has become one of South Africa’s most successful music institutions.

Our training pathway has been created to nurture the musical development of South Africa’s finest young musicians, from emerging gifted school-age students to those on the verge of a professional career. Along the way our concerts bring delight to thousands.

The South African National Youth Orchestra Foundation as a Section 21 non-profit organisation puts all donations to the best possible use. For more information on how you can help, please email us or support us online by clicking here.

We support the Play It Again Foundation managed by the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra Company.

In existence since 2003, The Play it Again Foundation has helped many youngsters gain access to instrumental tuition and to experience music in a way that would otherwise have been impossible. People with instruments which they no longer want or need donate them to the Play It Again Foundation which in turn allocates instruments to students in need of them. Many aspirant musicians in the JYOC are unable to afford their own instruments, making the Play It Again Foundation a vital link between the wealth of talent evident in our young people and their eventual success as musicians. All the instruments are lent to young musicians who have proved their ability and commitment to music and through the generosity of so many donors are able to realize their musical ambitions.
